It was beautiful as usual, but too much sunshine as we got there pretty late (7:45 am) --> should be there no later than 7 am..

After dropped my friend back to his resort he stay, I stopped by at a gasoline station at Jalan Andong in my way back to the place I live. There was a line of motorcycles in front of me. I was waiting behind these 3 mopeds and all of sudden there was a white honda jazz cut my line.

I don't like being cut when I am in queue. The driver who cut my line is a woman. She drives with, I assumed, her early elementary school age son. Her son was leaned out the window, torso up outside the left-up side window of the car. He practically stared at me and gave me a foolish smile while looking at my plate. Her mom probably told him something about cutting the line.

Having my head boiled, I grabbed my loyal N97mini smart phone and took a snap of that car. The kid glanced at me for a split second and turned his body (head) toward his mom. I could tell that he blatantly snitched about I took the picture to his mom.

She turned and glared at me.
I smiled.
She became gawky.
I kept smiling.

I don't care who she is nor I want to deal with this kind of people in the future.

Lesson learned: I need to get the hell out of Indonesia asap.
i love indonesia, the hardware is beyond amazing...
but the software (majority) is just dull and bullshit.

Before, I made the pizza with someone else. Was just putting the topping, not a real cooking. Last night was different. I made my own pizza, from the dough and eat it by myself. It tasted good.

Below is a compiled pictures and description on how I fill the topping and bake the pizza. I forgot to take a pic of the dough, but will make another batch soon as I promised Lev to make her one. After the pics, I will share more about this experiment (and after).
In this picture, I baked the crust twice, pre-filled topping and after putting the topping. Also, I made
series of small punctures with fork on this pizza crust. The result is the dough not rising when I baked it. So, the pizza crust in the end is not as chewy as I wanted it. It might also because I mixed some corn starch when I kneaded the dough (just before I put the topping on it).

The next day (or this early morning), I baked another pizza. No small puncture, only using pure all purpose wheat flour and only baked it once for 6 minutes. The result is better. Even Ebi said it's delicious. The crust is.

Tonight, I baked another one for Nom2 (and Fred). She also said the crust is delicious. I am getting more confident that this dough really is delicious. :)

Finally I baked one for myself again (supper). Not a pizza, but a calzone. It does have chewier texture than the 1st bake, yet it's still hold the crispiness. Maybe the yeast worked better after the leftover dough sitting on the fridge over the night? I love how the mozzarella streched! Take a glimpse on it below.
Yes, it's the beginning of the rainy season. When I heading back to my office, I spotted this huge snail wandering around at the pathway. Actually there was 2 big snails, but this one is bigger. See the comparison of my fist and the snail. I know my hand is quite petite, but this snail is definitely not small.
Sunday to buy something for my sisters, a close neighbor and my granny
some gifts. It was raining hard that day, actually it was raining from
the day before. So, before I went to Ubud center, i decided to visit
Delta Dewata at Jalan Andong and hoping the rain will stop. It does stop
for a nick of time and started to rain again and didn't stop until the
very next day. Good thing that when I was strolling, it was only
drizzling.

I am happy as I was walking in the rain. Walk around the little
town with my silver umbrella and stopping by at every little store that
caught my sight. That was my imagination. Thanks to the shop attendants
who ruined the supposed-to-be-my-happy-moment.

People in Ubud, well, in Bali, usually wrongly guessme as an East
Asian tourist... either from Japan, Korea, China, Singapore or
Malaysia. So they usually speak to me in English. That day was the same.
So when I entered the store, they always welcome me warmly in
English..with a very warm gesture, mimic and tone. But, suddenly after I
asked or spoke to them in Indonesian, they always change their
attitude. In bad way.

They was treated me friendly as
they think I am a foreigner, but then they warm attitude changed
coldly... easily... like you were just flipping your hand. I don't feel
respected at all, like I was not even welcomed at the shop, which not
even theirs.I can read from their face that they just wanted me to leave
the stores rightaway. I felt they yelled "Go away and never come back!"
When I asked things, they will reply reluctantly, in a very bad manner.
It was actually pissed me off, but I keep calm all the time and carry
on... (and in my heart I said, let me write this on my blog later)

It
was actually my second experience to be treated not as a valued
customer in Ubud Center. I heard from the others that it also happened
to them. Even worst, one of my guest once complained that when she was
in one of the cafe in Ubud Center, the waiter/waitresses didn't served
her like her expectation. She described it just like what I experienced
and she felt offended.

My point is, come on, you are selling your stuffs... But, with
your crappy attitude? I am working in tourism industry, in one of the
5-star resorts in Ubud. Why would you treat your customer differently
just because they have different skin, language, race? Just because I am
an Indonesian you think that I cannot buy/afford your product? Just
because I am an Indonesian I am no good to use your goods? Not suitable
for your things? Or maybe you are not allowed me to use it as you think
foreigner are better than locals? Money is money. You still eat from my
money if I buy from your store anyway. Oh, Puh-lease!

Here a little piece of writing, hope you, the business owners in Ubud Center, read it....

Dear business owners,
Please take care and operate
your business seriously. I hate when I got different treatment (in a bad
way) just because I am Indonesian. If you still loves money, you have
to teach your staffs so they did not treat your (potential) customers
badly. Treating a customer in a bad manner and make them uncomfortable
is a big no-no. So please keep this in mind or you will loose some market share.
Thanks for reading and hope you/your customer service management could be improved.
Best Regards,
chisa
PS. The only shop attendant who treated me like a valued customer
was the shop attendant at Periplus at Monkey Forest Street. I stopped
by for quite sometimes, when I asked about a book that out of my reach,
he was willing to help me. I ended up bought three books. Definitely will come back to satisfy my thirst on books. :)Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04800873192551785041noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2233089453587173126.post-13549092911901651502011-12-14T21:26:00.001+07:002011-12-14T23:05:00.560+07:00Japanese Hamburger Steak in my style

Today's dinner menu was Japanese Hamburger Steak with rice... and of couse I cook it just like I want. (I made a hambaagaa rice last July, yet it's different!)

This menu required me to make four dishes before served it as one. It took a while to cook because I only have an electric stove and a teflon pan.

Rice
I used medium small grained rice for this menu. The rice was brought by my dad when he came to Bali recently. It is an organic rice harvested from my dad's friend's backyard in Central Java. It's growth for personal consumption only and not for sale.

Hamburger Patty
This patty was made overnight premade). I made it with (approx) 100g lean ground beef, 1 medium size shiitake and some onion leaves chopped finely, 2 tbsp of cornstrach, 1 tsp of soy sauce, salt (to taste), and freshly ground blackpepper. The whole things were mixed and shaped into balls then pressed with my hands. It's about 1cm thick. I pan seared it with olive oil until it got really done (dark brown). As I put cornstrach in it, it will be tender no matter how long it being cooked (corn strach can be substituted with all purpose flour or bread crumbs).

Sauteed Vegetables
I'm running of vegetables and need to stock more of it tomorrow. So, I just take whatever left on my fridge. The sauteed vegetables side made of chopped baby long bean (abt 3 cm) and about 5 mm chopped onion leaves, celery stick, shiitake mushroom, and garlic. All of the ingredients were sauteed in teflon with a tsp of olive oil, in high heat. I added about a tsp of oyster sauce, soysauce, and freshly grounded blackpepper. Mixed it thoroughly and set aside.

Hambaaga Sauce/Gravy
Onion is the main ingredients of this part. Finely chopped onion (both red and white) was sauteed with olive oil. I waited it until it got brown (caramelized). After that, I added some finely chopped garlic and shiitake mushroom and mixed it. Next, I put about 1 tbsp of corn starch and let the corn starch cooked. Longan honey, oyster sauce, and soy sauce were poured into the pan and mixed with the other ingredients. Finally I added some water and freshly grounded blackpepper. I stirred the ingredients and made sure no corn starch was mixed well and let it simmer. I poured the sauce all over the other sides and the Hambaagaa rice is ready to be enjoyed.

Since I like it hot, I sprinkled some gochugaru (chili powder) on my set. Oishii!

I already munched some bread stick, bun, and a portion of Caesar Salad, so I didn't eat the french fries. :)
--> yet I ate Pecan Nut Pudding for dessert...

The Milanese Beef consist of sunny side up egg, breaded beef with tomato puree and mozarella cheese on top, completed with a portion of vegetable salad. It served with a portion of french fries and ketchup.

The beef is very tender which I love.
--> This place never disappoint me.. The meats always served tender. :)

Which I don't like is the tomato. I don't know if the tomato mix on top of the fried breaded beef is that much. It's quite thick! But if you like tomato, it'd taste like heaven for you.

Egg was cooked too long for me, so the below side is overly cooked for me. I always like when the yolk is melted everywhere.

With a glass of a real iced lemon tea, it's a good lunch afterall...

--> i'm very picky if it comes to food.. we are all, aren't we? :pAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04800873192551785041noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2233089453587173126.post-63547470857966292232011-11-06T13:56:00.002+07:002011-11-06T14:58:07.362+07:00Ramen Boy at Sakanaya Market Fish by Ryoshi - KadewatanWeeks ago, I went to Ramen Boy at Sakanaya Market Fish by Ryoshi which located at Lungsiakan Kadewatan 3 times.

First, I tried the Shoyu Ramen. It was at 10% disc before tax (Sept'11) as it's newly open... Think it was open on the end of August or early Sept.

These are the Shoyu Ramen.... (idr 30K++)
consist of ramen, 1/2 boiled egg, 1 sliced chasu (pork belly confit), menma (dried bamboo shoot cooked with chasu broth), boiled mustard (sawi hijau), and finally chopped onion spring on top (negi?).

First Impression:
It was OK as this is quite cheap for a ramen.
Broth is fine, somewhat rich but not very rich... Clear and refreshing. I found it to be too salty tho.
Noodle is OK, but I found it too yellow (or is it just me?).
The texture of the noodle is quite tender yet it's somewhat chewy. Good consistency, but not outstanding.
Too much onion spring (but it maybe just me).
Quick service

My 2nd time... I ate the Miso Ramen (idr 35K? around that.. forgot)
consist of ramen, 1/2 boiled egg, 1 sliced chasu (pork belly confit), menma (dried bamboo shoot cooked with chasu broth), boiled bean sprouts, and finally of course chopped onion spring on top (negi?).

2nd Impression:
A bit the same as the 1st impression.
I like the taste of miso and broth blends together.. Creamy texture but not heavy. Still, found it a bit too salty.
Noodle --> same as 1st impression as it's the same.
Onion spring still a bit too much (of course la, it's their service std).

3rd impression (went there abt 2 weeks ago)...
The broth is not cooked long enough. It wasn't kicking at all.... Surprisingly it's lack of spices also. I added shoyu on my bowl so it tasted better... Maybe because the cook is different.
All the other was just the same as the 1st.

Don't go for the lemon tea.... Personally I don't like it. It just a tea with lime. I don't take it as a real lemon tea.

I haven't try the fish (sashimi n others) yet since I was actually went there for the fish but no stock at that moment... So that's why I ended up with a bowl of ramen (again).

I don't know if I would go for a bowl of ramen again there since I can cook in my place now (electric stove, kitchen utensils, refrigerator, etc). But it's ok to go there... Not gonna hurt.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04800873192551785041noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2233089453587173126.post-4818719728538898582011-08-19T19:16:00.001+07:002011-08-19T19:17:18.755+07:00If I were a doodle~

Murah? Mahal? Well, itu relatif. Terserah bagaimana Anda menilainya.

Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04800873192551785041noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2233089453587173126.post-73529727941288671502010-07-18T19:21:00.005+07:002010-07-29T23:28:40.247+07:00Today’s lunch: Hambaagaa
Today’s lunch: Chisa’s Japanese style fusion hamburger.

consist of:

boiled carrot

sautéed A. polytricha (tree-ear)

sautéed green paprika (bell pepper)

sunny side egg – 1/2 done

long grain white rice

hambaagaa sauce (consist of onion, scalion, beef stock, pepper, sugar, garlic, tomato, fish sauce, oyster sauce, and salt)

hamburger (minced beef, sauteed onion and scalion, shiitake, garlic, salt, white egg, green chili -Capsicum annuum-, and Royco chicken cream soup –coz i don’t have milk/yoghurt and breadcrumbs-)

I’m not gonna write how to make it step by step. Yeap, gastritis, or gastroentritis, or whatever it named is striking back.

But it’s not that sad anyway. I cooked a bowl of soup to soothe my upset stomach.

It might look greasy, but it’s not that greasy. It’s just like Campbell’s chicken and rice, but instead of using diced chicken, i was using minced pork. It tasted good anyway. lol. I’m sharing the recipe here.

Ingredients:

onion – minced

garlic – minced

shallot leaves - minced

green tomatoes – diced

shiitake – diced

carrot – diced

minced pork

rice – cooked

condensed beef broth

oyster sauce, fish sauce, pepper

vegetables oil

Cooking Steps:

Sautéed the onion on the pan with vegetables oil (i use a saucepan) until just about to turn brown.

Add the minced shallot leaves and stir them until onion is turn golden brown.

Add the other ingredients ( garlic, pork, tomatoes, shiitake, and carrot) and stir it until the pork turns color. By that time you gonna have a caramelized onion.

Add some condensed beef broth, oyster sauce, pepper, and fish sauce, then stir it again.

Heat it up then pour some water on it. Let it simmer for a moment and keep stir it occasionally.

Finally add some rice inside, stir it occasionally until simmer.

Taste it! Serve and enjoy it when you done with the tasting session. :D

I didn’t put the exact amount of the ingredients I used here. Just use your feeling. Feel free to add anything. Cooking is not about textbook. It’s about mixing ingredients to create something wonderful. So just enjoy it. :D

My soup has a rich flavor. I just love the taste of caramelized onion mixed with beef broth! And the great thing is it did help soothe my tummy.

even it’s hurt again now.. huahaha… i need more soup!!!
P.S. I heard that onion may cause gas just like cabbage, broccoli, milk, and softdrink do. Also, PMS, excessive sodium (salt,) sodas, too much alcohol, too little protein in diet, and contraceptive pills are some of the most common causes of chronic stomach bloating. >.< Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04800873192551785041noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2233089453587173126.post-59706143699672540952010-06-03T22:11:00.000+07:002010-06-03T22:27:46.200+07:00long weekend yg bener2 long.. *part2*Where were we? Oh, sampe surprising my mom n dad.
Sabtu pagi katanya abis dr Borobudur Mike mau jemput. Sampe jam 4 sore kaga dijemput, baru d dikabarin klo ternyata udah ga keburu. Yasud, ane ikutan bonyok n adik2 makan aj..

Malemnya aku nemenin papi mami, ketemu ma dokter2 dr Penang n their marketing staff.

Sebelumnya, aku dah gatel pengen pesen bir.. but i thought it was unsuitable since I'm dining w/ bunch of doctors.. especially when I heard 1 of them is very picky on what he eats. Pucuk dicinta ulam pun tiba, salah satu dokter, yg kebetulan duduknya di sebelahku, pesen bintang dingin sebotol... Langsung deh aku minta gelas extra, trus blg ke dokter ini.. would you mind to share the beer? And he said sure... he took my glass and gently pour the beer inside my glass. Akhirnya 2 dokter yg lain juga ikutan minum. Order lagi d... Dokter yg 1 lagi, ngga minum beer, tp ordernya coca cola.. padahal dy ahli gastro.. brti gpp y minum coca cola?? lol... Yg bikin heran sih ada tmn bokap yg ikut anter dlm rombongan surprised n g percaya klo aku minum... yeaaaaa... she might just amazed... nanyanya ampe.. "yg boneng kmu minum? ga mabuk? blablablaaaaa..."

Sorry klo kekny dokternya ane monopoli, bukan kamsud.. tp karena posisi duduknya yg mendukung. karena aku+ dokter2 ntu dudukny di tengah. dokter bedah jantung, ginekolog, me, sebrangku si dokter gastro, trus sebelahnya (depan ginekolog) dokter 1 lg,, ntah ahli apa.. + karena mungkin mreka lebih enjoy speak in english rather than in melayu y... + si ginekolog kan banyak tanya ke ane.. y jadi ane tanya2 balik aj.. XD

Minggu jam 9 pagi, aku ke bandara, w/ mom n dad... just for nganterin koper2 the doctors and their marketing team. Penuh dah 3 trolly buat barang mereka. Stela mreka masuk ke dalem u/ check-in, mom-dad-n-me mampir di Sop Ayam Pak Min Janti, trus brenti di Ambarukmo Plaza, beliin aku olive netbooknya smart. Biar aku diem katanya. Jam 3an udah brangkat lg ke airport u/ nae flight Batavia Jog-Sub jam 16:50.. Check in dapet kursi 7E (nantinya dapet 7F, tukeran sama bapak2 yg ternyata kerja u/ Angkasapura Mataram.) Sampe jam 4 lebih 30 menit, ETDny jg belum ada, gila bener, udah pasti delay ni pesawat. Akhirnya beneran didelay sampe jam 6:15.

Enuf abt periplus. Stela mendarat, aku cari taxi. Karena bingung gtw mau nae yg mana (yg ktny pny AL itu seharusnya pas kluar dr pintu kluar lgs ke sbela kiri, tp aku bingung n g yakin karena gtw apa namanya.. lha papi ga kasih tau apa namanya,) yawes akhirnya nae golden bird (gaya banged) dan yaaa... tau lah golden itu bayarnya kek gimana.... tp y emang service nya T.O.P.B.G.T... skali lagi d boros nae golden bird.. kapan ari ma chiyo d jakarta, dikasih camry.. yg maren ini nae mercy C class, kompresor? ntah apa. Batinnya ni ank kok klo dianter plg, mobilnya ganti2.. *jgn dianggep ank ga genah ae*

Rincian pulang dadakan kali ini....
* tiket ke jogja (puter2 sampe solo-salatiga-semarang-jogja): nebeng - gratis
* makan di madiun, solo, salatiga, semarang, jogja - gratis (dibayarin org laen slaen bonyok)
* netbook - 3.3jt
* tiket jog-sby yg dibeli 1 day b4 the flight - 707rb - dibayarin mami
* security wrapping - 30rb
* airport tax - 25rb
* Meg Cabot's - 115rb
* Golden Bird - 240rb (diskon 33% dr 360rb, kos ane jauh dr Juanda,d sby barat)

total: 3.3 + 1.117 = 4.417jt
yg ane kluarin ndiri: 410rb

pokokny abis ini harus hemat.. $_$Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04800873192551785041noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2233089453587173126.post-16372434318246320722010-05-30T21:12:00.010+07:002010-05-30T22:45:55.498+07:00long weekend yg bener2 long.. *part1*Long weekendku itu.. mulainya tgl 25 mei malem! Abis pulang kerja, numpang mandi d t4 tante, trus diajakin makan d mie jangkrik, dan dianter ke meeting Rotaract. Stela meeting yg formal slese, trus lanjut ke meeting informal.. di Sinar (tah sinar ap namany,) trus kita nongkrong sampe jam.. 1 kekny. Krn kemaleman, aku g plg kos.. Malah nginep d rumah Heidi. Lagian ga ngepek pulang ato ngga, kan 26nya libuuuur... Why? Coz the place i go for work lokasinya di Gresik, dan otomatis tgl 26 libur karena ada Pilkada (walo pemkot gresik sbnrnya cm nyuruh libur stenga hari aj.)

Tgl 26nya, aku ke House of Sampoerna 2x. Paginya, bareng ma Heidi (ini Heidi tah nyetirny rada gmn, mgkn gr2 bobony jam /2 4.. ngobz dulu ma aku. lol,) ketemuan ma Vicky n GungIn.. Siangnya, Heidi dropped me off somewhere in Kalianyar, trus aku pindah ke mobil Michael. Abis itu balik lagi d ke HoS. Mbak2 dan mas2 di HoS pasti apal dah ma aku. Coz aku pake sarung warna pink dengan sandal high heel 8cm warna pink jg. Dah kek turis jp (katanya....)

Abis itu ke rumah tmnny bonyok ny Mike, t4 dmn Mike, Mike's parents, & 2 org tamu dr US stayed. Disana aku diajakin main ma ankny yg pnya rumah (ank cowo umur 9taon.) Lumayan. Ternyata ga bikin boring jg. Makananny uenak. Sayang banged kelapa mudanya udah ga muda lagi... Stengah tuwek.. >.> Stela makan, aku dianter ma oom Cong balik ke kos. Dan malem itu jg aku packing....

Tgl 27 pagi, aku dijemput dr kos, then meluncur ke... Semarang! What a nice house. 2.5 story building w/lots of woods details. Homy banged dah. Dari balkon lt.2, terlihat kerlap-kerlip lampu2 kota. Twinkling.. It feels magical! Karena dah kecapean, stelah home tour, akhirnya aku langsung tepar.

Tgl 28 pagi aku ngicipin kolam renangnya Mike. Ga gede, tp cukup bikin cape kalo renang bolak-balik. Di belakang rumahny ternyata ada kebonnya.. Ga tanggung2, klo kupingku ga salah denger sih katanya 1,700 sqm tuh kebonny. Ada sawo, rambutan, mangga, markisa, dll.. What a dream house...

Stelah renang, mandi2, breakfast, n siap u/ pergi, meluncurlah kami ke Jogja. Di jalan kena macet. Apalagi di Magelang... dan smua gara2 Waisak. Makan siang di jejamuran aja udah ga bisa dibilang makan siang, tapi makan sore. Mau maen ke workshopnya Shinta jg ngga jadi gara2 udah kesorean. So, we headed up straight to Prambanan.

Then diajakin makan di gudeg Sagan. Bener2 sakit perut gara2 kekenyangan malem itu. Abis makan aku dianter pulang ke rumah. Tenten was so happy to see me again! He's wiggling his tail. And he's jumping over me (Oh yeah.. he even stepped on my head, what a black lab..) Abis main ma tenten, aku mandi.... trus ngenet.. Kangen banget sama komputer rumah.. bnr2 nyaman... Malemnya, aku bukain pintu pas mom n dad pulang. Mreka kaget aku dah di rumah. Surprise! Krn aku pulang g bilang. I was hitchiking.. lol...

oh, i'm very sleepy and kinda tired..

to be continued on part 2,
which apparently will be written tomorrow... or even the day after tomorrow...Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04800873192551785041noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2233089453587173126.post-38428151270481769122010-05-09T12:02:00.005+07:002010-05-09T12:22:09.957+07:00I could bake, bake, and more baking!Setelah pulang kerja kemarin, Ai Tjen ngajakin aku bikin something di dapur lagi. Last week was the delicious home made pizza.... And yesterday.... bikin roti~~~~~~~~~ nyam!

Kemarin aku benar2 seperti bermain. I was just shape, fill, re-shape, and then put it on the tray... I don't even put it in the oven on my own, Tante Tjen did all the other things by herself!
Oh, btw, i did 1 more thing... I did grate the kraft cheddar and mix it with 3,5 tea spoonful of condensed milk.... :D

Filling rotinya bermacam-macam. Ada keju, keju susu, pisang, pisang keju, pisang keju susu, ham, ham keju, sosis, sosis keju, salami, salami keju, dan ada 1 khusus punyaku yg isinya ham+keju susu. Aneh y? keju susu kok dicampur ham... Biarin, yg penting ane doyan. Tapi kok sekarang ga bisa nemu tuh roti dimana y... Jangan2 udah dimakan ma yg laen? o.O

Ini beberapa roti yg aku bentuk sendiri sebelum di-glaze...
