BWW Corporate Training & Events - Shanghai, China

Scared and Excited at the Same Time

So, after a hectic day yesterday, I was involved in another hectic day today.

Yesterday was hectic because I went to Qi Bu Lu (w/ Lydia, Sophie, Merly, n Fang"). It's probably the most crowded fake market in Shanghai. It was tiring. but I'm quite happy as I brought something there.

Today.. I felt so sleepy in the class. It's like the class was last for forever and the clock was ticking very slow. Good things I didn't fall asleep in the class.

After school, I went to the BWW Office (the place I went for internship). Apparently Joseph (my boss) forgot that he told me to be there at Thursday (today). Then he told me to meet him at a mall near ZhongSan Park MRT station. We met there and he briefed me on what will I do later on in the company while he has his brunch and a latte (and I got a tall ice choco w/ whip cream). So, the BWW is a very complex company; and my boss give me a homework of making a mind mapping about the company (what it does). Tough one.
After the briefing, we went to the office (by car). In the way back, he told me to make a budgeting proposal on the office stationery and supplies. From 2m wide 4-wheeled whiteboard (both side), flip charts, markers (big one), board eraser, pens, pencils, eraser, clips, straplers, pins, notice board, trash bin, trash bag, to fax-printer-scanner machine, a sticky note, power extention (cord), office telephone, internet modem, etc. Then also told me to remind him about BWW & CRS brochure, and also to get a translator. I think it sort of a test he gave to me. The best thing is since I'm new here and I don't speak Chinese very good, he send her assistant to assist me. She's very nice. Her name is Bao Hong which means "red bag", litterally. Today we went to Tesco. Tomorrow she gonna take me to a store that only sells office supplies, and it closed on 5pm.

Monday I will start the real internship. Lots of training will be conducted. I will do my best to achieve the best thing I could reach. Other homework Joseph gave to me is shopping. He told me to get a work bag and a notebook (the one you write w/ pen, not a laptop, dude!). When he said that, it also means I need to work on my style. I realized that my lousy outfit won't suite the office even before he told me. Yeah! I definitely need a good outfits... shirts, blazer, skirt, trousers, shoes, bags. Let's shop!

Sunny Sunday

I woke up at 10:30 am and then take a shower. I skipped breakfast and just go to Huahai. I took Metro and got off @ Shaanxi M St. I Walked toward East Huahai. It was sunny. I wore a short-sleeves T-shirt, a long sleeves bolero, a jacket, and a hoodie. Nice weather.

I entered every single shop that interested me. it means, i went to almost every shop in HuaHai. As i walked down the street, my stomach growled. So I decided to stop in KFC. But then i fond Ajisen Ramen. So, I chose Ajisen instead of KFC. I ate ramen w/ pork. The pork tasted so strong. It's not as nice as if i have a boiled pork in Indonesia. lol. I asked the waiter to bring me salt/soy sauce, but they don't understand at all. Then the waitress told me to write it down. She came back with a pack of tissue. In a minute, she's back w/ 2 'lil plate of shoyu and salt. Nice! The ramen cost me 18 RMB.

I continued to walk. I went to H&M, Zara, Naturally JoJo, etc. Too bad the UniQlo's building was under construction. I feel pretty lucky considering that the Barbie Shanghai opened on 6. So, it was very crowded, but it was quite an experience. At least I've been there. (even though I bought nothing as the price of the things sold there are incredibly expensive)

One thing I always deal with is people always talk to me in Chinese. (of course, you are in China, dude!) As they talked to me, I tried my best to reply in Chinese. but, when i couldn't.. I would just simply saying that "ni shuo ing wen ma?", hahaha.. Then they'd look so surprised, or even blacked out. it's so funny. I know that everyone think I'm Chinese (as I am), but I'm not Chinese Chinese; I'm Indonesian born Chinese... So, I haven't really mastered the Chinese. lol.

As I reached HuaPing (hope i didn't write it wrong) M St., I ate @ Wagas and spent 69RMB on not so delicious spaghetti and an OK banana-berry-honey smoothie. it is healthy, but the spaghetti was not al dente. i think it's cooked a bit longer. After a fine dinner, i went back to the uni.

it was very tiring. I have a lil chat w/ Ga Eun, decide to go to Hangzhou and Soochow; and other placces, next time. I took a nice shower, made the homework, then went to bed.

Hectic Saturday

I went to a museum w/ some Shanghai Rotaractors. I'm not quite sure how many we are, but we're plenty (i think it's around 13). We went to Shanghai Science Museum in Pudong. We were chaperoning 40 2nd and 3rd graders (8-9 yrs old) kid from a private school. Yup! A private school! But it's not a wealthy private school. The kids parents are come from areas out of Shanghai, from urban. I believe they called migrant workers (if i'm not mistaken). They are poor, and I don't think the parents could take the kids to the Museum as they are working, or the price is unaffordable for them. I've been told by m friend that one of the kid's parents are jobless. it's very sad as they are poor and they have to go to public school, whereas now, the public schools are free! I hope the Chinese government will take some actions as soon as possible, not just selling words to its people, because it's so sad.

We were divided into 4 groups. Each group consist of 10 kids and 4 chaperones (at least 2 chaperones can speak Chinese). I was in the same group as Megan, Stefano, and the teacher. Stefano was coming late because he has to do something else. Megan is in charge of payments and everything. i think she's the PO for that project. So... it was me and the teacher who chaperoning my group (the yellow group). it was hectic. I passed Kevin and told him about the situation. Then, a girl called Ada was sent to help my group. Thanks, God! After Ada join our group, the situation get better. ^^ Later, after the early luch, Stefano and Megan join us. It was tiring, but it's worthed.

After the trip, we get back to the school to drop the kids off. There are 5 of us left in the bus. The other went home by metro near the museum. In the bus, there is a kid cried because we have to say goodbye. Sad.. but we must go on. Oh, and, in the middle of the ride, kevin gave me a very useful map of Shanghai. Unlike most of the business map that exist, this tourist map is probably the best!

From the school, Megan, Chris, Michael, Kevin, and me walked through the Bei Qiao Metro Station. From Bei Qiao, we went to Xin Zhuang (Line 5), then transfered to Line 1. I got off in Cao Bao Metro Station as the others were continuing their ride. Then, i went to exit 3. It was a mistake. I ended up walked through the opposite direction of the bus stop and arrived at line 2 metro station. Kinda crazy. lol

For dinner, i ate Ma La Dang. it was awful. I hate chinese/sezhuan pepper. It's just not my cup of tea. *grrr*

For refreshment, i bought a bag of cake in front of the school. it cost 3.5Y. I like this food! I bring them to YooJi's room. We got a party there. A small party. i came there with Lydia. There, we gather w/ 4 korean girls incl. Yooji. We ate Shin Ramyun, apple, and chips, drink cola and orange juice, playing cards. We were stuffed up and happy. At 10 o'clock sharp, I went back to my room and have a lil chat w/ Ga Eun. Then take my long sleeeep.

It was a long tiring day, but nice at the same time. =)

Ouch!

As time goes by.. i got so many ouch-es.. >.>

Ouch #1
i've been told that su fa class is started and if i wanna join i need to come and see the place, teachers, etc; last night.
turned out that the class is started next week.
i've bought 2 meals, and it makes me wanna throw up...
and.... i canceled my dinner appointment w/ my roommate *sob*

Ouch #2
stomachache! like... it's never end... T.T
hope i regain my strength and win the battle 2mrw... lol

Ouch #3
last night i watched "Mighty Duck" @ ICS. The best part is I still speak American! lol
the annoying part is I realized that I need to (MUST) learn the hanzi.. looooool.
and....... the surprising part is the ICS (it's like the only channel that use English as its main language), as if most foreigners -esp. the english speaking one- will likely to see this channel, doesn't provide the movie credit.... It's like they have been cut it off or something like that... geez... i wanna see the movie credit... >.<

Ouch #4
I ate @ the canteen for lunch 2day w/ bunch of Indonesian students... after, 1 of it told me that I wrote the wrong hanzi. well.. kinda hurt.. but it's a good thing that she told me. After, i have to study harder. =)

Ouch #5
I know that my way of thinking (abt life, lifestyle, etc) is different w/ those majority ppl. I appreciate what they have in mind. I know I just a minority here (as I don't like to be the same as others and I like to be outstanding.. lol), and you ppl, pls don't tell me what to do.
If it's abt religion then usually i become more sensitive. Like.. for me, worshiping God does not necessarily have to be in the church (or mosque, or temple, etc).
in this case, because I'm a Catholic, I'll write it in my way.. :D
Well, I totally understand if they say they have to go to the church because of Jesus' salvation, and bla3... >.<
but that doesn't mean I have to go..... In my not so humble opinion, I could worship god in everytime, everywhere, to everyone. Doing the best things in everything (somehow sometimes i forgot to do the best for myself as i don't take care of myself carefully), lend a hand to others, being carefree and nice to people surrounds me, make the worlds a better place.. are things that I could do to share the best values i got from God. I'm lucky... very lucky. Sharing my luckiness to the world doesn't mean it'd drain. In fact, the world is giving back to me double, triple, even uncountable! The world have infinity energy that could be shared to us. It's our decision to take or refuse it. Me, myself, definitely won't waste it. I'll grab it! ^^
So, for me, i don't think go to the church is a must... I could allocate the time for others. As i believe God will be more than happy to see me doing a good deeds to others and make a great positive impacts toward the world, rather than if I go to church everyday and worship Him there, but do nothing toward others.
i love to contribute what I could give toward the society. A better world, a better place, a better understanding... hope it'll come true. =)

the aw moment of the day:
it's sunny today... :D

have a great weekend!!

xoxo,

Things Are Getting Better

Last Night

Dinner
As I called my fellow Indonesian friends, and found out that they already have dinner, I planned to take a long steamy hot shower and eat my dinner later on. After I washed some clothes (undies and socks) and took the long steamy hot shower, i felt kinda lazy to go out. So, the plan of "going out" and "take-away dish" was aborted... :D and i just ate a cup of instant noodle (90g) and a orion choco-marshmallow pie.. :D

Roommate
As time goes by, I get closer with my roommate. She's a kind girl. I think I'm pretty lucky to have her as a roommate. I gotta knw that she is allergic to pets (dogs, cat). She has a sis (18), and her sis often calls her just asking when she'll b back to korea. Also, her bf calls everyday! or.. everynight? XD yea.. anything.. her mom too.. I think she's showered w/ love n attention.. that's great, but also not that good in the other hand, coz she'd feel kinda homesick.... >.<>

Dizzy...

i didn't skip school today! hahaha...
but I felt uneasy... yup... i still got the nasty diarrhea... also... i think my cold got worse.. >.>

After I finished the class... i went to Wonton Gill... or whatever it named.
I eat a bowl of wonton.. it cost 8 RMB..
it contains of 10 wontons, filled w/ pork.. it tasted good.. right until I fed up... yea... I fed up.. it filled my stomach.. XD it just too muuuuuch for me... can't take them all... but i made it finally... i ate the pork.. and left some of the wonton skin (it's made frm wheat.. just like noodle but wider and thicker)..
and... i didn't pay 8, but 9 RMB, coz I asked the lady to add a fried sunny side up egg in my bowl... :D (yes, the egg cost me 1 RMB)
it tasted great! esp. when the yellow part is /2 rare... *love it!*

too bad that i didn't bring my camera...
so.. next time.. (i mean next semester.. maaybe.. lol) i'll took the pic and post those pictures somewhere... lol

I also went to the bank... to store some money i took yesterday..
kinda blank when i was in the bank, coz i wasn't realy able to talk.. :D
but everything went smoothly.. ^^
the bank wasn't crowded and ppl who worked there were being cooperative...
my friend told me that the bank is closed at 5 (daily work)..
it kinda surprised me coz in Indonesia, the bank is closed @ 4...
then, after 3 pm they (in Indonesia) they wouldn't proceed any customers reqs. unlike here... in sh, my friends said they will still serve the customer until the work time is over...
a great work ethics.. ^^

*happy dizzy mode on*
----> i think i need to take a rest now........... >.<

Skipping School was Not My Intention

It's only been a week since the school started, yet I'm skipping school today.
It wasn't my intention to skip school at the 1st time though. If only I were healthy enough to go.

So, yeah, I'm sick. I got a nasty diarrhea and my heads was kinda spinning off.
I have a history of digestion problem. I felt uneasy since early yesterday. Then I was also walked in the rain. My shoes and socks were wet.. my feet were cold and my toes were numb. I didn't take the real dinner as I just ate a banana, a small french bread (it's tiny), and drank a glass of hot ginger ale. In the morning, as I wasn't predicted, I got diarrhea which is very annoying. Right before I was about to go to the class, I felt my stomach was about to burst. It's aching. I went to the toilet like three times today, literally. And I might go again later. *sob*

What did I do when I skipped school? I drink a cold and flu pill (i took panadol, the blue one), eat a cup (it's about 90gr) of instant noodle (as i don't have the strength to went out this morning), watched TV, and eat a tablet of promag (medicine for digestion and gastritis problem). Then i went hibernating until 3pm today. And, Voila! I got better now. ^^

So, yeah... I think the points I should take from today's lessons are:
1. be warm
2. eat sufficiently (and do not ever miss/skip a meal)
3. always be healthy
4. take a good rest and care of myself

Definitely I won't skip school anymore (as I have paid the tuition fees.. lol).

ok, gotta go for my very late lunch....
definitely don't wanna miss it and fell into the same hole... :D
