Fri, 11/20/09

On Fri (11/20), I went to Fudan Uni with Silva. She was helping her sister and her sister's friend to register at Fudan Uni. It was raining and very cold. Fudan (复旦大学) located waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay far away from my school, SNU (上海师范大学). We have to took bus 763 to Shanghai South Railway Station (上海南站), take MRT which takes about 23 stops (I forgot which stop), then take bus 812 (4 stops) to reach Fudan.
I'm not in the mood of writing now, so I'll just share our pretty pics...

we also ate at Pizza Hut nearby...
here's the pic of the dessert...

Some of my friends mentioned that Pizza Hut in China is not as delicious as the one in Indonesia, even some say it's not good. But for me, all of them are OK. Even the dessert is nicer. I agree that the price is higher, but the taste, it's so-so.. Global company that adapting the local taste? What are you expect. It's not your own country, dude.. If you want Indonesian adjusted taste Pizza Hut, then buy it in Indonesia, not in China... lol.

Chili Tuna Fusili

Today's creation with Mpok..
Chili Tuna Fusili

Ingredients:
Tuna in Chili Oil - 1 can (we use Ayam Brand's)
Onion - 50gr, sliced
Celery - 1 stick, cut 1cm long
White Mushroom (Button Mushroom) - 2pc, sliced
Portobello Mushroom - 2pc, sliced
Gouda cheese - 50gr, diced
fusili (or rotini) - 250gr
olive oil - 2 tbsp
salt - 1 tsp
chicken bouillon - to taste
black pepper - to taste

So, we cooked the pasta first into the boiled water with olive oil and salt. In the skillet, we cooked the tuna altogether with onion, mushrooms, and celery. We added some water and chicken bouillon.
Meanwhile, we dried the cooked pasta then put it in the skillet immediately. We don't want to eat a mushy pasta, so we make sure the pasta is not boiled too long.
After, we added the gouda cheese, chicken bouillion, and black pepper. We stirred it until it all mixed together, taste it. Then we served it (to be eaten by ourself.. lol).

here's the picture.

we couldn;t finish the whole thing. lol
some of it sit in the refrigerator now. I'll reheat then it eat tomorrow. (: (maybe for breakfast? if i could get up in the morning.. hahaha)

kimchiiii...

I was starved and really need to feed. I run to the kitchen and found there is rice in the rice cooker. Sweet! My flatmate cook for me too... Then, I open my refrigerator.. not much there, but i have kimchi, dried shrimp (the tiny one), and pork sausages... Ok, that's all enough to cook a portion (my portion) of kimchi fried rice. So I chopped a bit of garlic and onion, sauteed in medium heat it with the diced sausages and dried shrimp, add the rice, stirred it, add the kimchi and chicken bouillon, stirred it again... Voila.. the fried rice kimchi is ready.. :)

Today's Menu: Rendang Babi (Pork in Chili and Coconut Sauce)

In the middle of reading Parodi by Samuel Mulia, I got an IM from Mpok... It popped up in my screen and roughly said "We still have a chunk of pork, what we gonna do with it? Stewed it with sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)?"
Hmm... I think that's gonna be nice since i haven't eat Babi Kecap (stewed pork with sweet soy sauce) for a year.
But by the time the pork ready to cook, we changed our mind. Since we have packages of instant seasoning that really really ready to use, we just pick rendang (Indonesian chili and coconut sauce) to compliment the pork. Also, we add shiitake mushroom inside the pan (so the mushroom wouldn't sit too long in the fridge, waiting to be cooked).
After about 3/4hr, the pork rendang is ready to eat... :)

About the rice, it's 3.xx yuan per 500gr (bought at Carefour). It's the best deal we could find as we like the long-grain white rice (and it's Thai, since we can't find Indonesian one). But, I'll check again.. not so sure about it. Maybe there are cheaper Thai long-grain white rice. Who knows...

Gloomy and Dreamy (It's Raining)

It had been a public secret that I sleep like a bear when the temperature falls. Moreover, I love to curl under my blanket when it's raining outside.

Shanghai has been poured by rain for almost two days, and it's temperature dropped to around 8. Even, it has been predicted that snow will hit Shanghai I love rain when I don't have to deal with the water. I like it when the drops hit the roof. It's like a lullaby for me.

Cold and rain. Those two condition stimulate me to hibernate like a bear. Well, i don't really fall in the state of hibernation because bears doesn't really hibernate also. :P
And those condition really stir up my mood. Gloomy and dreamy.. and I just want to stay on my bed under the electric blanket. lol

I hope the temperature falls more and more. I wish there is a snowfall in Shanghai. It's really worthless to stay in a cold weather without a snow fight or some other snow games (i want to make some snowman and angels).

Wanna Dance (Again)

The weather in Shanghai surely is getting colder day by day. In the meantime, my blood is boiled.. I want to dance again. I don't know if it's the effect of the cold; or it's because my dearest friend Meme shared her Facebook and Youtube link on AIKEI's dance, as cover of Super Junior's Sorry Sorry.

I don't remember at all when did I start to dance. I'm pretty sure I started it in my very early childhood. I remembered I was dancing when I was in the pre-school. Hula-hoop dance! I learned modern dance in the pre-school up to the 1st grade of elementary school. That time, I danced in some strangers wedding parties. Yup, I was semi-pro dancer back in my childhood. I got paid! lol.
Then, in my 2nd or 3rd year of my elementary school, I started to learn the traditional dance. I also made some performances, like in the church for welcoming the bishop (and some other important ppl); and some others for the Rotary Club (I remember that I performed one of Sumatran dance (can't remember the name), Jaipong from Betawi, and Balinese Pendet); which I can't recall when were those performances showed; and probably some others that I couldn't remember at all. I learned several dances which names couldn't be recalled from at least five private dancing teachers (from pre-school until high school; in discontinued manner, on and off, a years of routine and other years of vacant).

My last performance was performed back in March 2008. I did that after at least 4 years without dance routine. The dance itself was a medley of Lies by Big Bang and Tell Me by Wonder Girls. I did it with Vania, Meme, ChaCha, and Chiyo. So nervous that time.. >.<.. When I view the video of the dance, I realized that I didn't do it perfectly, but at least I can dance. :D

In the other hand, I feel it's kind of hard to do the dance now, I can't even remember the dance I had mastered before; such as the simple Balloons by TVXQ! I only remember around 50% of it! Really, the says "practice makes perfect" is true...

Let's practice... practice... and practice....

Duo Piano Concert - The Rotary Club of Shanghai's 90th Anniversary Gala

Last night I went to Rotary Club of Shanghai 90th Anniversary Gala Dinner. It's not just another birthday party. It was a duo piano concert and gala dinner opened by a champagne reception and sparkled with raffle tickets and silent auction for fund raising. In the middle of the event was a Rotary Club of Shanghai history movie clip. The movie clip was more than great. I love that clip. It's not just another boring clip. I can't describe it by words. One should see by him/herself.

The event held in Ballroom A, 10th Floor at the Renaissance Hotel Zhongshan Park. The reception started on 6:30pm. Champagne, orange juice, cola, and canapes are everywhere. The admission fee for this event is 800RMB per person (but, once again, I joined for free as the Shanghai RC gave some free tickets for Rotaractors and Interactors). Renaissance Hotel itself (I believe) is part of the Marriott Hotel Group.

The duo piano concert was so nice. The music was alluring. I love those songs, especially the one I familiar with like Jambalaya, Over The Rainbow, Theme and Variations, and some other musics.
Here is the music list.

Last but not least, the foods. The foods were so delicious. The salmon was melting inside my mouth, the soup was very tasty, moreover, the beef was cooked perfectly; juicy and very tender. The dessert (ivory blanc satin chocolate mousse griottines cherry) was kind of heavy for me. I prefer something other light and refreshing after that kind of dinner. It'd taste better if I wasn't that full, and the griottines cherries tasted like medicine pills (it's too bitter for me, well, maybe the liquor is too strong).
Here the picture of the menu, followed by the foods picture.

Last but not least.. Shum's creation... :D She took the picture with her Nikon D50, and me? only using a pocket camera. lol

Such an unforgettable night...
Wish the recital was longer...

Enjoying The Cold Weather

The Shanghai weather is driving me nuts. Sunny and warm today, cold and cloudy in the other day.

Yesterday and the day before yesterday were crazy. Those two days were super cold (for me) and the wind was blown me away. It's so strong. Still, i managed to enjoy the days. Below are pictures I snapped in the middle of my journey back home (back to my apartment) after school and visiting a friend in her dorm. The picture themselves took inside my school, Shanghai Normal University.

Finally I Can Cook Again!

It's been about a month that I couldn't cook because the stove in my flat was broken. My landlord came on the Nov 1st to collect my nov-jan rent fee, then he asked is that any problem within the house. I mentioned about the stove. It's not the gas (because I still can enjoy the hot water). He managed to call the gas company to fix the problem. In less than 15 minutes, a person from the gas company came to check and fix the stove. I didn't know what he did, but the repairing process was done in a flash. Voila.. it works again!
It cost about 270RMB, i don't quite remember as the landlord paid the bill.

The next two days, I cooked a duck soup. It has duck meat (of course!) - duck leg, sauteed onion, smashed and finely chopped garlic, potato, pumpkin, carrot, celery, and dried shrimps (the tiny size one), also seasonings (ground coriander seeds, chicken bouillon, ground black and white pepper). For the final touch, I sprinkled some fried crunchy bacon and self-made crouton.

Put a crouton on it was a mistake. I didn't the wet mushy crouton. I finished the crouton immediately and began to enjoy the soup. The soup, without the crouton, was delicious.

I can't wait to cook another dishes. :)
